This introductory session welcomes educators new to the Bloomsbury/ABC-CLIO databases. In a quick tour of key features, participants will learn how to navigate the homepage, apply effective search strategies, explore Topic Centers, and access built-in Educator Support tools. Educators will leave with a clear understanding of how to begin using Bloomsbury/ABC-CLIO databases to support instruction and student inquiry.
This hands-on session introduces educators to the power of Bloomsbury/ABC-CLIO Topic Centers for building inquiry, literacy, and critical thinking skills. Participants will explore models of classroom use, learn strategies for navigating Topic Center libraries, and walk away with ready-to-use lessons.
Content may be focused on a specific theme or subject area such as: the Constitution (American Government), Revolutions (World History), or the Great Depression (American History).
This session introduces educators to key ABC-CLIO features—reading leveler, read aloud, translation options, and accessibility tools—that help support students at different readiness levels. Participants will learn practical strategies for scaffolding texts, strengthening literacy skills, and building student independence from grade 7 through AP courses.
This session introduces educators to the features of the World Geography database that support geography instruction, including country facts and figures, CLIOview comparisons, organizational tools, literacy supports, and student research features. Participants will learn practical strategies for using World Geography to strengthen geographic understanding and classroom inquiry.
Participate in this hands-on session to extend and create beyond the ready-made lessons and activities in the databases. Participants will have time to review student tools, plan a sample activity with database resources, and share ideas with each other.
