Every month the SLC Reviews team rounds up a list of our favorite titles on a theme of our choice. Drawing inspiration from national holidays to fictional books with specific themes in common (time traveling, road trips, or summer camp misadventures, anyone?), we compile a list of our favorite book titles to reflect the main topic. Every book is reviewed with an eye towards its potential value for students, librarians, and educators and comes with a Recommended or Highly Recommended stamp of approval from our talented pool of SLC reviewers.
March is here, so we’re currently celebrating Women’s History Month—and “march” is no misnomer. From the women who marched in the streets of Washington, D.C. in 1913 in what became known as the first civil rights demonstration in the U.S. capital, to the 2017 Women’s March in the wake of the #MeToo movement, we want to highlight the enduring strength and spirit of women!
Get your students excited about Women’s History Month with SLC’s exclusive list of nonfiction titles featuring female subjects from both the past and present. Whether it’s a lavishly illustrated picture book biography or a graphic novel memoir, there is something on this list for students of all ages to enjoy!
