The face of librarianship is changing. By 2014, the number of librarians projected to reach age 65 and retire is more than 23,000. Information on nursing residency programs is also included, providing different conceptual models for accelerated development of new librarians.

Megan Zoe Perez, MSLS, is visiting assistant professor at the University of Arkansas Libraries, Fayetteville, AR. She was the first librarian-in-residence at the University Libraries, a participant in the 2008 Minnesota Institute for Early Career Librarians from Traditionally Underrepresented Groups, an ALA Spectrum Scholar, and a participant in the ARL Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce program. Perez also received the Margaret Ellen Kalp Fellowship and Dean's Achievement awards from the University of North Carolina's School of Information and Library Science, Chapel Hill, NC.

Cindy Ann Gruwell is associate professor, information literacy librarian, and coordinator of instruction at St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, MN. She participated in the University of Minnesota Libraries Affirmative Action Residency Program, 1995–1997, and is currently a member of the organizing committee for the Minnesota Institute for Early Career Librarians from Traditionally Underrepresented Groups. Her published works include Diversities in Libraries: Academic Residency Programs.
