Uwe P. Gielen, PhD, is founder and executive director of the Institute for International and Cross-Cultural Psychology as well as professor emeritus at St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, NY. His published works include Principles of Multicultural Counseling and Therapy, Handbook of Counseling and Psychotherapy in an International Context, and Handbook of Culture, Therapy, and Healing. Gielen holds a doctorate in social psychology from Harvard University.

Jaipaul L. Roopnarine, PhD, is Pearl Falk Professor of Childhood and Family Studies and director of the Jack Reilly Institute for Early Childhood and Provider Education at Syracuse University. He also serves as a research scientist at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. His published works include Approaches to Early Childhood Education, Issues and Perspectives in Early Childhood Development and Education in Caribbean Countries, and Families in Global Perspective. He holds a doctorate in child development from the University of Wisconsin.
