Author Info

Carl A. Harvey II is an instructor of school librarianship at Longwood University in Farmville, VA. Previously, he was an elementary school librarian for 17 years in Indiana. He is a past president of the American Association of School Librarians, the Indiana Library Federation, and the Association for Indiana Media Educators. His published works include Leading the Common Core Initiative: A Guide for K–5 School Librarians (coauthored with Linda Mills); The Library Media Specialist in the Writing Process (coauthored with Marge Cox and Susan Page); No School Library Left Behind: School Improvement and the Media Specialist; The 21st Century Elementary School Library Media Program; and Adult Learners: Professional Development and the School Librarian, all published by ABC-CLIO.

Leslie B. Preddy is school librarian at Perry Meridian Middle School in Indianapolis, IN since 1992, and has served as an adjunct professor for Indiana University, Indiana State University, and IUPUI. She has presented webinars and is a frequent speaker and consultant at education conferences and events. She has published many articles in professional journals, co-created online resources for educators, and is the author of SSR with Intervention: A School Library Action Research Project, Social Readers: Promoting Reading in the 21st Century, and School Library Makerspaces. Preddy is a recipient of many awards including AASL's Collaborative School Library Media Award and Perry Township Schools Teacher of the Year. She is a past president of both the American Association of School Librarians and the Association of Indiana School Library Educators. Preddy is a recent recipient of two grants for her school library makerspace from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Indiana State Library.

Rebecca J. Morris, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Library and Information Studies of the School of Education, University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned her doctoral and master's degrees at the University of Pittsburgh. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and kindergarten education from The Pennsylvania State University, Schreyer Honors College. Morris has a professional background as an elementary classroom teacher and middle school librarian. She currently teaches graduate courses in school library curriculum, children's materials and services, and digital media production. Her research interests include educational preparation of school librarians and digital storytelling. Morris is an active member and committee leader within the American Association of School Librarians. She is the author of School Libraries and Student Learning: A Guide for School Leaders.
