ABC-CLIO and RefWorks Announce Partnership

Santa Barbara, CA - April 28, 2004 — ABC-CLIO announced today that it now links its abstracting and indexing databases, Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life, with RefWorks, the new Web-based bibliographic management tool.

RefWorks allows users to create a personal, searchable database of references accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. In addition to Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life, references can be imported from a variety of platforms and sources. With this new agreement, ABC-CLIO history database users will be able create reference databases for their own use or to share with colleagues or classes. In addition, references saved in RefWorks can be imported into papers and automatically formatted in hundreds of bibliographic styles in seconds.

"A collaborative partnership like this with RefWorks allows us to provide important benefits to our users," said Vicky Speck, Serials Editorial Director at ABC-CLIO. "We’re always looking to incorporate valuable resources like RefWorks in our databases and to make them accessible to history researchers."

"RefWorks has already had notable success with researchers in the sciences," said Tina Long, Vice President of RefWorks. "This collaboration represents an important first step in the integration of history databases for the service and for introducing a new set of researchers to RefWorks as a useful, powerful research tool."
