ABC-CLIO and Ingenta Announce Linking Partnership
Santa Barbara, CA—May 26, 2004—ABC-CLIO announced today that it now links its abstracting and indexing databases, Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life, to online journals from Ingenta.
With this new agreement, ABC-CLIO history database users will be able to search article titles and abstracts and follow direct links to full text articles in the 6,000+ journals in Ingenta’s collection, including such prestigious titles as The Journal of Interdisciplinary History from MIT Press, German History (published by Arnold on behalf of the German History Society) and a number of key history publications from Brill Academic Publishers. The new linking partnership also complements ABC-CLIO’s recent agreement with Oxford University Press by offering non-subscribers the ability to purchase individual OUP articles on Ingenta.
ABC-CLIO already has linking partnerships with companies such as JSTOR, Project Muse, History Cooperative, OUP, and H-Net as well as a number of free online journals. These partnerships are instrumental in making researching easier and information more accessible for the user.
"Working with Ingenta goes hand in hand with our mission of meeting history researchers’ requirements," said Vicky Speck, Editorial Director, Serials at ABC-CLIO. “The large number of history-related journals made available with this partnership should prove extremely useful in promoting and continuing the scholarship in this field."
“Ingenta recognizes the importance of increasing the visibility of our publishers’ material via partnerships with respected subject resources,” said Charlie Rapple, Publisher Distribution Manager at Ingenta. “ABC-CLIO is a key web entry point for historians, and this new agreement helps us to further strengthen our linking network which is the most comprehensive online today for publishers and libraries.”
