FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABC-CLIO and EBSCO Publishing Announce
New Distribution Partnership

Santa Barbara, CA — April 20, 2007 — ABC-CLIO is pleased to announce a new distribution partnership to make award-winning ABC-CLIO databases available through EBSCO Publishing.

With this new partnership, public libraries will be able to enjoy the convenience of working with their EBSCO representative to consolidate orders for ABC-CLIO databases with their orders for EBSCOhost® databases. The databases will continue to be accessed via ABC-CLIO platforms, so customers will experience the same renowned content through familiar interfaces with the added benefit of combined ordering through the EBSCO sales team.

The following resources are included in the agreement:

  • World History: The Modern Era—winner of 7 “best of” awards
  • World History: Ancient and Medieval Eras—winner of 5 “best of” awards
  • World Geography: Understanding a Changing World—winner of 6 “best of” awards
  • American History—winner of 9 “best of” awards
  • American Government—winner of 9 “best of” awards
  • State Geography—winner of 5 “best of” awards
  • Issues: Understanding Controversy and Society—newly released
  • United States at War: Understanding Conflict and Society—winner of 4 “best of” awards
  • History Reference Online—a newly released collection of reference eBooks
“We're pleased that EBSCO will be offering ABC-CLIO products alongside their own,” said Ron Boehm, CEO of ABC-CLIO. “It combines the offerings of the foremost history publisher with those of the premier database aggregator in a way that benefits many more public libraries than we can reach on our own.”

In a related move, ABC-CLIO's History Reference Online will also now be available in three different annual subscription packages. The Complete package, including nearly 550 full-text eBooks, will offer cross-searchable access to ABC-CLIO's full collection of history encyclopedias, handbooks, dictionaries, and guides. The Premier collection will feature nearly 400 titles and the Elite collection will contain 250 titles. New titles will be added to all collections on a quarterly basis at no additional cost to the subscriber.

The remaining databases—designed to serve the needs of young adults and general researchers—will also be available in packages: the Complete package, which includes all eight databases; the Premier package, which includes any 6 databases; and the Elite package, which includes any four databases.
