Announcing a Call for Submissions for the
ABC-CLIO Leadership Grant

Santa Barbara, CA — October 19, 2006 — ABC-CLIO and the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) announce a call for submissions for the 2007 ABC-CLIO Leadership Grant. The yearly grant of up to $1,750 is given to AASL-affiliated school library media associations for planning and implementing leadership programs at the state, regional, or local levels.

Established in 1986 through a shared aspiration between ABC-CLIO and AASL to foster the development of leadership, the ABC-CLIO Leadership Grant encourages the development of leadership programs that focus on new ideas and innovative approaches.

“We take great pride in co-sponsoring a grant committed to leadership advancement,” said Becky Snyder, President of ABC-CLIO. “It's important to support the achievements of programs that will ultimately make a wider, positive impact on school libraries in our communities.”

Examples of potential leadership programs for grant consideration include those that involve new members, train ongoing leaders, prepare school library media specialists for leadership at the building or district level, and encourage collaboration among organizations.
