ABC-CLIO Redoubles Commitment to Professional Development

ABC-CLIO is pleased to announce the appointment of KathrynSuárez as Publisher of its professional development publishing program for librarians and information professionals.

In this new role, Suárez will oversee the multiple facets of the LU offerings, including Libraries Unlimited and Linworth professional books, digital services, School Library Monthly and Library Media Connection magazines, and webinars.

Suárez's passion for helping information professionals succeed in the 21st century and be recognized for their contributions, plus her extensive experience in the library-marketing publishing industry, provide a solid foundation from which to achieve this goal.


A long-time publishing professional and expert on publishing for librarians, Suárez comes to ABC-CLIO from her recent role as Vice President of Finance & Business Development for Neal-Schuman Publishers. Previously, Suárez was Director of Reference Publishing for Congressional Quarterly Inc.’s CQ Press/CQ Researcher groups, where she guided their transformation from producing print-only publications to becoming an award-winning online reference publisher. Suárez also serves on the board of ALA's Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF).


Suárez is focused on bringing librarians professional development resources that are highly relevant to their experiences and challenges; building mutually beneficial partnerships between librarians, authors, and teachers; taking a fresh approach to textbooks; and pursuing new technologies that allow digital information to better serve librarians and their patrons.
