ABC-CLIO is always looking for good writers with something important to say to one of our many audiences. And there are a number of ways you can participate in a publishing project, from writing a stand-alone single volume to editing multi-volume sets to contributing encyclopedia entries to expressing your views in an opinion piece for one of our electronic databases.
ABC-CLIO has five major imprints, each with a different clientele that includes students, teachers and professors, lay readers, librarians, administrators, and professionals in business, academia, the nonprofit world, politics, health, law, and more.
Below are brief descriptions of each of our imprints, complete with links to information to help you create and hone a proposal for the appropriate editor. It is wise to spend some time on the website of the imprint for which you’d like to write to ensure you understand its mission, the different products it publishes, and the tone and spirit it embodies.
ABC-CLIO/Greenwood is widely recognized for high-quality, authoritative, reference scholarship and innovative coverage of history, humanities, and general interest topics across the secondary and higher education curriculum. With widely respected publishing programs in Military History, American and World History, Race and Ethnicity, Popular Culture, World Cultures and Geography, American Government, Contemporary Issues, Economics, and now Religion, the reference collections of the ABC-CLIO/Greenwood imprint continue to answer students’ and educators’ needs for factual foundations in specialized subject areas. The imprints' many award-winning titles in the social sciences and humanities range from in-depth multi-volume encyclopedias to more concise handbooks, guides, and biographies. Our reference program also focuses on the alignment of reference and both secondary and college level curriculum by providing resources that support coursework and subject specialties.

Praeger Publishers Founded in 1949, Praeger publishes books that examine and analyze the issues of the day, with special emphasis in current events and social issues, politics, business, psychology, health, pop culture, religion, and modern and military history. Praeger also publishes insightful and timely material on domestic and international security. These books serve the needs of general readers, professionals, and scholars alike by providing the best of contemporary analysis and professional information to the widest possible audience. In addition, Praeger publishes the Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance.
Libraries Unlimited/Linworth Libraries Unlimited and Linworth serve the needs of the library profession through quality publications for library and information science students and faculty; public, academic, and school librarians; media and technology specialists; and teachers. LU/Linworth publishes quality, library science textbooks, information science materials, bibliographies and reference books, professional guides, resource books, and practical handbooks, monographs, and manuals for library educators, practicing librarians, and media specialists. LU/Linworth also publishes a variety of publications, including Library Media Connection and School Library Monthly.
